Custom PCB Design
Production-ready circuit boards for embedded systems and product prototypes.
Documented engineering work, from a full problem-to-solution case study through representative PCB, wireless and automation hardware examples.
A full case study, documented in detail on our technical blog including a demo video — summarised here against the framework we use to scope engineering projects.
Engineering challenge: Wi-Fi range is short, cellular networks need a SIM card, and internet-based systems aren't always available in the field — all of which make remote messaging expensive and unreliable in industrial and outdoor deployments.
Hardware architecture & communication technology: An ESP32-based gateway and a remote, battery-powered ESP32 LoRa node, linked over a long-range LoRa wireless connection. Flow: mobile app → ESP32 gateway → LoRa network → remote LoRa node — no internet or SIM card required at any point.
PCB design & firmware: Custom PCB design for both the gateway and the node, OLED display support on the node, and ESP32 firmware handling LoRa communication, message routing and battery-powered operation.
Result: Working real-time, one-to-many wireless messaging with no internet or SIM dependency — demonstrated end-to-end in the video on the full case study.
